Reflections

Credit for this lovely photograph goes to Harsha Honnappa

The sky with its many hues,
Painting a unique picture everyday,
Not governed by norms or bound by rhythm,
But an epitome of free will.
Casting its refection on the lucid waters,
Lending its hue and coloring the sea,
Whose incessant waves personify periodicity.
Much like the unpredictable circumstances,
Which color our routine lives in such a way,
That we know not monotony!

No wine for me please, just Harsha!

Many thousand miles and continents apart,
In different time zones and climates,
Submerged in different routines,
We live this wonderfully connected life,
Exchanging thoughts that synchronize perfectly,
an orchestra without a conductor,
yet without chaos.
sharing every significant moment of ours,
to each experience dual lives,
yet without schizophrenia,
Constantly figuring out the puzzle called life,
challenging and engaging each other,
to create an irrefutable solution.
Love is a surreal experience,
that will keep me intoxicated for life..

The bitter winter cold was defeated by the warmth around us.
A stack of problems trying to bury each of us,
but the spirit of the evening inducing momentary amnesia.
There were superficial differences,
of language, of race, of nationality and of circumstance,
Yet the overwhelming spirit of hospitality and friendship,
blurred these differences and destroyed any cultural barriers.

The conversation flowed naturally and spontaneously,
unimpacted by the relatively short span of association.
As we shared wonderful food and interesting experiences,
it felt like I was transported back in time,
to my student life, a merry and carefree existence.

Hours went by like minutes,
The fun and frolic soon ended,
But the spirit lingers on..

This wonderful evening with a group of friends from Germany,
left me wondering..
How fundamentally similar we are,
And yet the world harps on the superficial differences,
ignoring completely the profound similarities which unite humankind.
